Amanda Holden

Amanda made her first appearance with Rebel Shakespeare Company in 1991 at the age of eleven as Ariel in The Tempest, when she wore a turquoise unitard with little strips of seaweed attached. She performed in Twelfth Night, A Midsummer Night's Dream, and Hamlet with the Rebels throughout high school, and returned from 2000-2003 as a director (A Winter's Tale, Twelfth Night, Hamlet, As You Like It, Taming of the Shrew, King Lear, Romeo and Juliet, A Midsummer Night's Dream).

Her favorite Rebel moment was watching the actors perform the Winter's Tale version of George Michael's song, "Faith" ("It's requir'd you have fai-fai-fai-fai-faith") onstage at the end of the play.

Since working with Rebel Shakespeare Company, Amanda has taught yoga and Shakespeare in Hong Kong, received her M.A. in Theatre History and Criticism, and she is currently pursuing her doctorate in Theatre History and Criticism at the University of Colorado Boulder. Her Master's Thesis examined the appropriation of Shakespeare in the NEA initiative, "Shakespeare in American Communities."

Amanda has been a dramaturg and assistant director for several productions at the Colorado Shakespeare Festival, and also serves as the Education Programs Manager for the festival. If any past or present Rebels find themselves in Boulder, get in touch with Amanda...she would love to see you!
