Darcy Fowler

Darcy participated in Rebel from 1992-1996. Her favorite roles were Hermione in "The Winter's Tale," Mistress Quickly in "The Merry Wives of Windsor," and her all time favorite The Nurse in "Romeo and Juliet." Darcy graduated from high school in 2001 and went on to receive her BFA from Syracuse University.

As for her Rebel Shakespeare experience, she states that she "fell in love with Shakespeare, with theatre and with acting because of Rebel. I discovered how fun and how magical it could be. I also learned that I loved playing comedic roles."

Her post-Rebel credits include "Enchanted April," at the Kavinoky Theatre, "Twelfth Night," at Shakespeare in Delaware Park, (Buffalo) as well as performances in The Edinburgh Fringe Festival, The Bushwick Open Studios and Arts Festival and the Abingdon Theatre and two commercials, one for AOL/TimeWarner and one for JCPenney. She is also a proud member of The Striking Viking Story Pirates.

Darcy is now a playwright and actor based in New York City. Readings of her first full-length play, "The Bird and the Two-Ton Weight," have been presented at The Bushwick Open Studios and Arts Festival 2007, Lubin House, Syracuse University's base in New York City, and the Ars Nova OUT LOUD reading series. "The Bird and the Two-Ton Weight" juxtaposes two lives: the life of a young woman in 2008 trying to find her way and save her family after the sudden death of her mother, and the life of a young woman in 1988, during her semester abroad in London, before her death in the Pan Am 103 terrorist bombing. It is the story of what happens when these two lives collide through the discovery of a journal; it is a story about hope and possibility.

The play is making the leap from the stage to the big screen. Filming has begun, and readings of the stage play are being held around the northeast to raise money for the project. Please visit the official project website for further information on readings coming to towns near you.
