Rozena Crossman
Rozena was nine years old, the summer going into 5th grade, when she joined Rebel Shakespeare, and has been a Rebel every year since. Her first play was "Much Ado About Nothing," where she played Verges. Second was "Twelfth Night," in the role of Malvolio. When she was 15 she started working for the program.
Her favorite roles that she has played are Osric in "Hamlet," and Puck in "A Midsummer Night's Dream.
Rozena performed in nine of the Rebel productions and worked on or directed five. She also has worked with Keri Cahill on the in-school workshops and residencies that Rebel offers, went on the England trip when she was 13, and is chaperoning the 2008 England trip for Rebel, as she currently resides in London.
Rozena is a 2007 graduate of Swampscott High School.
When asked about lessons learned during her tenure as a performer and director with Rebel, Rozena answers with her own question, "What lessons DIDN'T I learn?!?" She states that Rebel taught her to be organized and how to be relaxed, to completely give myself to what I believe in, and "that it's okay if you don't know what you believe in."
She learned that kids are "the best things in the world," and that they get judged far too often.
Right now Rozena was recently living in a castle in England through a Canadian University, but is back in North America enjoying her second year at college. Although she's gone from doing four plays a year to zero, the upside is England has the best chocolate. Rozena had the chance to meet up with fellow Rebel veteran Alex Harvey during his time in London in 2007, and had a wonderful time romping with the the 2008 Rebels as they came over to enjoy London and Stratford-Upon-Avon in April of that year.
