Kids! Shakespeare! Yay!

For 20 years, The Rebel Shakespeare
Company has been a fixture across Boston's North Shore, bringing the timeless works of William Shakespeare and the creative genius of children together.

Rebel Shakespeare Company magically transforms Winter Island in Salem, Massachusetts each July and August. Programs are designed for students age 5-19. During the academic year, the magic is brought to students across the Commonwealth with Rebel Shakespeare residencies and workshops.

Founded by Artistic Director Keri Cahill in 1990, Rebel Shakespeare is one of the most highly regarded arts-in-education programs in the Boston area. We are committed to offering theatre as a vehicle for self-understanding. Our mission is to create a space where children and teens can truly experience being themselves.

We use Shakespeare as our model because his texts are compelling, challenging and life-changing works of art. Rebel students are the creative force behind each production.

Whether assisting in designing sets, stitching costumes, building props or even directing scenes - Rebel students have the chance to truly challenge themselves and are an integral part of the production team. Rebel Shakespeare's team-oriented focus fosters a healthy sense of responsibility and the atmosphere of support and acceptance is the quality most talked about by parents and students alike. We look forward to sharing our stage with your children.
